LENT BEGINS FEBRUARY 17
Ash Wednesday | 4:00 PM
Whether they were lifted to bless God’s chosen people or to stone God’s chosen prophets, hands in the Bible are rarely noticed but always in action. Our Lenten series, “The Hands of the Passion” explores the many roles hands played during the Passion History, from waving palm branches to nailing our Savior to the cross. Join us on Ash Wednesday and Sundays during Lent as we ponder how the one who holds the world in his hands allowed those hands to be pierced and nailed to a cross – all in love for us. Ash Wednesday worship is at the Phi Delta Kappa Banquet Hall. Our Ash Wednesday service is at 4:00 PM on February 17.
“THE LIVING CHURCH – A BIBLE STUDY
Starting February 15 | 6:00 PM
The New Testament can be likened to a diamond. It is multifaceted, each angle adding to the brilliance of the whole. The brilliance of the New Testament is Jesus Christ. The Gospels show the life and mission of Jesus, Acts demonstrates the transforming power of His Word, the letters emphasize the new life in Christ, and Revelation reveals the ultimate life with Christ. The Living Church – The New Testament is a class to help you learn how the New Testament is knit together in our Savior Jesus. All members of Peace are welcome to take this class.
This class is part of The Congregational Assistant Program (CAP) and is under the guidance of Martin Luther College. CAP assists congregations in training qualified and confident leaders in their Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) congregations. CAP provides a range of biblical and practical courses available to all WELS members to help them grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
If you would like to learn more, speak with Pastor Schwartz, or, go to www.mlc-wels.edu/cap/.
NEW WEEKDAY BIBLE STUDY OPPORTUNITY
Wednesdays | 6:30 PM
Before Bethlehem the Messiah made appearances in the Old Testament, often as the “Angel of the Lord.” Join fellow Christians from around the Tampa area and as different pastors from our sister churches in the area lead our study of some of these Bible Stories together. Class is online, via Zoom, at 6:30 pm on Wednesday evenings.
“LOVE RULES” – a WOMEN OF PEACE BIBLE STUDY
February 9 | 7:00 PM
What do the Ten Commandments do for you? Do they send you on a guilt trip? Are they a mirror of your frailties? Or do they hold life-changing love? The miracle of the Commandments is that even after thousands of years, they still hold everything we need to live in relationship with God and with one another. In this women’s Bible study, you will see yourself and how pride, insecurity, grudges, and coveting damage relationships. Each narrative also shows exactly why we still need Jesus and His perfect, Commandment-keeping love.
All Ladies of Peace are invited to an online Bible Study on Tuesday, February 9 at 7:00 PM. A link will be sent out over email. You can also connect through Facebook and our website. If you would like to join, but would like more details, please contact Cindy Cochran (727) 236-7022.
