News & Announcements

This week’s Worship Theme – All Saints’ Day
We do not worship the saints but we do remember our loved ones who have gone to heaven before us. It is also godly to prepare for our departure. We come to church to be strengthened and uplifted in our faith. One of the Lord’s great blessings is to know we are forgiven and our robes of sin have been washed and made white in the blood of the lamb and we have a place in God’s forever. At the seminary we were taught to proclaim the way to heaven in every service so that if someone passes before next Sunday, they will have heard the gospel of salvation. After almost 50 years of ministry, that has happened more than once. The book of revelation is prophetic picture language that is one of the more difficult books of the Bible to grasp. However, chapter 7 and the multiples of 7 (14 and 21) are filled with salvation positives of what our future in heaven will be like.

BIBLE INFORMATION CLASS
The midweek Bible class has moved to Thursday evenings at 7:00 pm to review the basic truths of the Christian faith. The class will not meet on Thursday November 9. You can jump in at any time if you would like to come. A workbook is provided that can be used to catch up on past lessons.

WOMEN OF PEACE
The monthly meeting of Women of Peace will be held on Tuesday, November 14th. Please join us for Bible Study and fellowship at 6:30 pm.

COMMUNION PARTICIPATION ROSTER
Before the worship service, we are asking our members to announce their desire to receive the Lord’s Supper on the sign-up sheet located in the entry to the sanctuary. This will help us keep our records updated and also help with our annual reports to the Synod. If you don’t get the chance to sign the sheet before worship, please do so after the service has ended.

Peace Lutheran is working to update our records for each member of the congregation. Information sheets have been prepared and we ask that each person complete the sheet and return it to the church office.

AV OPERATOR
We are in need of another volunteer or two who would like to learn how to use the soundboard and video equipment here at church. If you would like to learn more about this opportunity to serve, please talk with Anthony Inman or Philip Bernier. They would love to share their knowledge and the chance to serve God in this way.

POINTS TO PONDER

Revelation 7

The three scenes of the sixth seal first picture the unbelievers on earth (6:12-17), then the elect on earth (7:1-8), and now the elect in Heaven (7:9-17). All these things will happen on the day of Jesus’ glorious return within a very brief time.

Numbers are very important in Revelation and especially chapter 7. 144,000 is not a literal number because vs. 9 says the multitude in Heaven was so large no one could count them. 12 sons of Jacob stands for the believers of the Old Testament. 12 apostles stands for the believers of the New Testament. The 24 elders represent all believers. 1000 is a number of fullness. (24 X 1000 = 144,000). 3 is the number for God. The number 4 is symbolic for the elect from the four corners of the world (nation, tribe, people, and language). 3 + 4 equals 7 – another number of completeness. Vs. 12 offers 7 words of praise to God.

DID YOU KNOW?
Trinity, Florida was named after Trinity Bible College which was founded in 1932. It was not originally located here. Rev. Billy Graham, its most famous alumni, graduated from the old Florida Bible Institute in 1940.  Later it became Trinity College. The area was originally a cattle ranch owned by the Starkey family. In the 1980’s Dr. James Gills of St. Luke’s Cataract and Eye Institute bought 1000’s of acres in the Trinity area to develop a new community with the three-fold purpose of faith, family, and education (hence the name Trinity). The boon to the Trinity area as well as other Florida communities was the ability to put water in one place and dry land in another. Trinity has become a hub for healthcare services. The corner of Trinity Blvd. And Hwy 54 was the site of an airport before development.

This week’s Worship Theme – REFORMATION SUNDAY
500 years ago the truth of the Gospel had almost disappeared. A reformation was needed to restore the Bible to its proper place and to bring back the truth about salvation. God used Martin Luther to bring about this reformation. Luther the man was troubled by his sins and feared facing the punishment of God for his sins. Later as a university professor he studied the Scriptures and realized that forgiveness of sins is not something we ourselves earn by our deeds but is God’s free gift through the sacrifice of Jesus. Sadly salesmen traveled Germany selling worthless pieces of paper called indulgences that promised people release from the punishment of their sins in purgatory in exchange for a payment of money. On Oct. 31,1517 Luther nailed 95 Theses or discussion questions to the door of the Castle Church to debate this wrong practice and return to the truths of the Bible. The wheels were set in motion for protesting believers to break away and start a new church. Hence the birth of the Lutheran Church and other Protestant groups. The lies and schemes of the devil have been many for the past 500 plus years. The battle for God’s truth will continue until the Lord comes. Today we rejoice in our faith in Christ by the power of God’s Holy Spirit in Word and Sacraments.

God’s grace has come to us because our ancestors in Christ have labored diligently to pass on their faith to the next generation.

LANDSCAPING
The congregation wishes to thank the donor who provided the landscape service that gave our church grounds a fresh new look. The grounds look great and we must now do our part to keep it looking its best. Please contact Brad Mattes if you are available to help maintain our outdoor space.

This week’s Worship Theme – I Timothy 2:4
The theme for the day is I Timothy 2:4 – “God wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth”. It was the truth God wanted Jonah to believe as he considered the wicked people of Nineveh. It was the truth God wanted Israel to see, that the children of the promise extended beyond the children of Israel. It was the truth God wanted vineyard workers in the Gospel to treasure, that salvation is not by works but by God’s mercy and compassion. It is the truth we are to embrace in 2023. 8 billion people in the world are not to be regarded as mostly very different from us and the less contact we have the better. No, 8 billion people in the world are a mission field for the saving Gospel of Jesus. We are not to decide who gets to hear and who does not. That is up to the Holy Spirit. We are to go and tell everyone we can.

This week’s Worship Theme – The Lord’s Model Prayer
In the Lord’s model Prayer, we pray for God to forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. We rejoice that our Savior died for our sins and has forgiven them. Because of Jesus, Heaven will be our forever home. Until the Lord calls us home, we are to live a life of forgiveness as well. Whether we be among friends, a spouse, children, at work, at church or wherever, we are to be forgivers of others as the Lord has forgiven us. It is what true authentic Christians do. This is the Lord’s message to us in our service today.

This week’s Worship Theme – The Way it is! The Way it will be!
We live in a beautiful world created by a loving Heavenly Father. Sin however, in the hearts of many, it has taken a toll on our world. The Promised Land of milk and honey became a sand pile due to the pillage of the Roman Empire. Not that long ago Floridians could live without air conditioning because there were more trees and less metal roof buildings and asphalt. Children of God can expect persecution and even death as the devil tries every trick to destroy faith as we come closer and closer to the Lord’s Judgment Day. But that is not how it will end. The Lord has promised hew heavens and a new earth the home of righteousness. He has promised to separate believers from unbelievers for all eternity. Alleluia! Jesus is coming for us!
