News & Announcements

December 3, 2021

Advent Worship This Sunday: People tend to feel a lot of pressure this time of year. We want our houses to look good for out-of-town guests. We want to impress people with the thoughtfulness of our gifts. What a welcome relief, therefore, to hear what is required to meet the Lord: only repentance. What is repentance? Why is it so important? Join us for Advent Worship at 10:00 AM at the Phi Delta Kappa Hall located at 11311 Phi Delt Way, Odessa, 33556. Children’s Sunday School and Adult Bible Study are offered as well.

CHRISTMAS 2021 SCHEDULE
December 24, 25, 26
Come hear about the child who lived for us, died for us, and rose from the dead for us. God sent his son into the world to bring peace and joy meant for you. Our Christmas worship will feature children proclaiming the message of Christmas, favorite Christmas carols and worship of the child who came to save us. Make plans to join us. Take an invitation card with you and invite a neighbor or friend.

This event has been growing in popularity for youth in our district over the last few years. It provides youth from our churches an opportunity to get together outside the summer months and Camp South. In addition, they will take part in other winter games and activities, devotions, a scavenger hunt, and a special worship service on Sunday morning. I would be glad to help arrange transportation and attend (There is the option of flying, there are flight options into Asheville, NC and Great Smoky Mtns National Park near Ober, TN). Parents are welcome to attend and participate as a chaperone.

Here are more details:

  • Dates: Friday, February 4 through Sunday, February 6

Advent Worship This Sunday: Join us for Advent worship. Advent is a time for preparing our hearts to celebrate Christmas and Christ our Savior. But it is more! The season of Advent is the four-week period before Christmas that the Church uses to connect the two “comings” of Christ. The first time the Lord came into our world it was as a tiny, helpless baby, born in a manger in Bethlehem. However, when Jesus comes again, it will be in all his power and glory with his angelic army behind him. He will be coming as judge at the end of time. During these four weeks we will be comforted that the events of Jesus’ first coming remove all our fears about his second coming. We can hold our heads high when the Lord comes near. Worship is at 10:00 AM at the Phi Delta Kappa Banquet Hall located at 11311 Phi Delt Way, Odessa, 33556. Children’s Sunday School and Adult Bible Study are offered as well.

Thank Offerings: The Bible says, “Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops.” –Proverbs 3:9.  God wants us to give of our first and the best of the resources he provides for us.

Worship This Sunday: Think of a time someone showed you radical hospitality. How did that make you feel? How can you reflect the love of Jesus by showing that level of hospitality to someone? How can you be different, like Jesus was different? This month, we look at the God-lived life as one that opens our lives to others. As we invite people into our lives and our homes, God gives us opportunities to share Jesus as we build relationships with them. Worship is at 10:00 AM at the Phi Delta Kappa Banquet Hall located at 11311 Phi Delt Way, Odessa, 33556. Children’s Sunday School is offered after worship on Sunday!

“LOVE RULES” – A WOMEN OF PEACE BIBLE STUDY
November 9 | 7:00 PM
What do the Ten Commandments do for you? Do they send you on a guilt trip? Are they a mirror of your frailties? Or do they hold life-changing love? The miracle of the Commandments is that even after thousands of years, they still hold everything we need to live in relationship with God and with one another. In this women’s Bible study, you will see yourself and how pride, insecurity, grudges, and coveting damage relationships. Each narrative also shows exactly why we still need Jesus and His perfect, Commandment-keeping love.

All Ladies of Peace are invited to an online Bible Study on Tuesday, November 9 at 7:00 PM. A link will be sent out over email. You can also connect through Facebook and our website. If you would like to join, but would like more details, please contact Cindy Cochran (727) 236-7022.

FINDING JOY IN LIFE
Continues Wednesday, November 10  | 1:30 PM
What happens when life becomes us pursuing our own selfish goals? We can easily become disillusioned with life. We can waste and squander God’s generous gifts and miss out on our Creator’s good purpose for us. In the book of Ecclesiastes Solomon teaches us to how to find enjoyment in life. Join us for our new Wednesday Afternoon Bible Study continuing November 10 at 1:30 pm online. We will be studying the book of Ecclesiastes.
