News & Announcements

October 29, 2021

This Sunday we celebrate the Reformation. What is the Reformation? Throughout history, Satan has attacked God’s Church with deception of all kinds. Through false teachers, he has led many to fall away from God’s truth, and thus Satan seems to be winning. And yet, as promised in the Bible, God preserves his Church and his Word, even as many are deceived.

One period in history where God preserved his Church and his Word occurred 500 years ago. The message of free forgiveness in Jesus seemed all but lost. Bibles were rare and people were seeking to earn heaven by what they did. But in his grace, God used Martin Luther to bring to the world the message of free forgiveness in Jesus. This Sunday we do not praise Martin Luther, but we praise God for him. As God’s instrument, Martin Luther helped reform the church by restoring the good news of Jesus as our only Savior, that salvation is by God’s grace through faith in Jesus alone.  There is no other truth by which we are saved! God’s loving warning to us this weekend: Do Not Be Deceived.

We worship at 10:00 AM at the Phi Delta Kappa Banquet Hall located at 11311 Phi Delt Way, Odessa, 33556. Children’s Sunday School is offered after worship on Sunday!

Thank Offerings: The Bible says, “Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops.” –Proverbs 3:9.  God wants us to give of our first and the best of the resources he provides for us.

FINDING JOY IN LIFE
Starting Wednesday, November 3  | 1:30 PM
What happens when life becomes us pursuing our own selfish goals? We can easily become disillusioned with life. We can waste and squander God’s generous gifts and miss out on our Creator’s good purpose for us. In the book of Ecclesiastes Solomon teaches us to how to find enjoyment in life. Join us for our new Wednesday Afternoon Bible Study starting November 3 at 1:30 pm online. We will be studying the book of Ecclesiastes.

Worship This Sunday: This Sunday (and month), the particular focus of the God-lived life is a life lived for others, a life of generosity. God allows us the opportunity to serve and love one another, especially those who are part of our communities.

To help us follow through on a life lived for others, a challenge card will be handed out to help us focus on being a good neighbor. What makes someone a good neighbor? How can you show God’s love to others by being a good neighbor? How can our church be a good neighbor to one another? How can we be present for others? You can read more about opportunities to live a life for others here.

We worship at 10:00 AM at the Phi Delta Kappa Banquet Hall located at 11311 Phi Delt Way, Odessa, 33556. Children’s Sunday School is offered after worship on Sunday!

Worship This Sunday: “The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many” (Mark 10:45). Jesus gets done telling his disciples about his impending suffering and death for them, the extent of his love for them, yet the disciples are concerned about their own personal ambitions and who is the greatest among them. Jesus turns things upside down for us this weekend as he teaches us to continually ask, “How can I help?” instead of “When is it my turn?” We worship at 10:00 AM at the Phi Delta Kappa Banquet Hall located at 11311 Phi Delt Way, Odessa, 33556. Children’s Sunday School is offered after worship on Sunday!

Thank Offerings: The Bible says, “Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops.” –Proverbs 3:9.  God wants us to give of our first and the best of the resources he provides for us.

Women of Peace Mtg: All Ladies of Peace are invited to an online gathering of fellowship and Bible Study on Tuesday, October 19 at 7:00 pm. The Bible Study is on the 10 commandments and the Christian’s life in service to God. The link is: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85422300442?pwd=OVpQTUJpdGg5WWlTSU5vVDJ5Y3V4QT09.  You can also connect through Facebook and our website. If you would like to join, but would like more details, please contact Cindy Cochran (727) 236-7022.

Stewardship Challenge: What does a God-lived life look like? It looks like Jesus. God became man and lived life in our place. Christ lived the perfect God-lived life. Living as a Christian, a little Christ, we have the privilege of demonstrating what God looks like in how we live our lives, in living lives that show God. NEXT WEEK, October 24, we will begin a special stewardship challenge. God’s Word will be challenging us, and we’ll be challenging one another to live a God-lived life. And that encompasses everything. We will be talking about a life of being a disciple, a life lived for others, a life of hospitality, and a life lived shrewdly. Join us as we challenge ourselves to put God’s Word  into

Worship This Sunday: Break out of the huddle … with the right priorities.  We live in a world where we just got to have the things that aren’t really going to last. Often, the things that will truly impact and change the world we don’t have time for. Break out of the huddle and listen to Jesus as he teaches us to make decisions and choices that are in line with the right priority. We worship at 10:00 AM at the Phi Delta Kappa Banquet Hall located at 11311 Phi Delt Way, Odessa, 33556. Children’s Sunday School is offered after worship on Sunday!

Worship This Sunday: Break out of the huddle … for the Family. The devil has declared war on the family. We are reminded what is at stake and why the family unit is so important this Sunday.  We worship at 10:00 AM at the Phi Delta Kappa Banquet Hall located at 11311 Phi Delt Way, Odessa, 33556. Children’s Sunday School is offered after worship on Sunday!

Coffee & Snacks Sign Up: Could you help with setting up coffee on Sunday mornings (9:30 AM TO 9:50 AM)? Are you willing to assist with bringing pastries or fruit for fellowship after worship?
