News & Announcements

March 12, 2021

3.12.2021

This Sunday, in the middle of Lent, we rejoice! We will look closely at one of the most popular verses of the Bible and learn why we can rejoice. There is plenty of space for social distancing while enjoying worship with brothers and sisters in Christ. Join us this Sunday, March 14. Worship is at 10:00 am at the Phi Delta Kappa Banquet Hall (pictured above) located at 11311 Phi Delt Way, Odessa, 33556. After worship, we will continue our study of the book of Colossians and children’s Sunday School will be offered.

On Sunday morning you can find a pre-recorded service here.

On Sunday morning you can worship with us on Facebook Live at 10 AM.

Thank Offerings: “On the first day of the week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money” –II Corinthians 16:2. Out of thanks to God, we set aside a regular offering to the Lord. Your gifts make a difference as our reach with the gospel has widened online during COVID-19. Please continue your faithful support of proclaiming Him who is The Way, The Truth, The Life. Here are a couple of secure ways to give.

  • Set up a one-time gift or reoccurring gift at our website, click here
  • Donate via text, send the dollar amount you wish to give to 888-314-2975 (Example: $40)

VOLUNTEER – MOONLIGHT EGG MADNESS
Evening of Saturday, March 20, 7-9 PM
Help meet and greet members of the Trinity community at Moonlight Egg Madness – a glow-in-the-dark Easter egg hunt. From 7 PM until dark we will have fun games and activities for families. This is a wonderful way to introduce ourselves to the community, but we need your help to make this event a success. You can sign up to volunteer at our website here. (about midway down the page).

We are limiting attendance this year. Children will be grouped to allow for physical distancing during the egg hunt. As a way to support our community through this event, we are asking attendees to bring an item for the Pasco County Coalition for the Homeless. A list of items needed is below the registration link for the event. The Coalition is currently working to help 250 homeless families into a rental home. They are asking for help in providing essentials for these homes.

GOOD FRIDAY
April 2 | 1:30pm
Many years ago, the custom was to hold services on Good Friday afternoon during the hours when our Savior was on the cross. Businesses closed from 12-3 pm and no work was done during these hours. In respect to our Lord, it is good to take time to ponder our Lord’s death and what it means for us on Good Friday. Join us for a special Good Friday service on April 2 at 1:30 pm. The service will be held at the Phi Delta Kappa Banquet Hall.

THANK YOU
March 8-15
Thanks to those who help to sort and prepare our Easter mailing this past week. Pray with us that many will join us on Easter Sunday to hear the greatest news of all: death is dead, love has won. Christ is risen from the dead!
You can register for our Easter services offered at 9 AM and 10:15 am on Easter Sunday morning.

A DAY ON THE WATER
Saturday, March 20  |  10:00 AM
Join us for a paddling adventure at Honeymoon Island on Saturday, March 20. You can bring your own kayaks, paddleboards, or other seaworthy toys and meet us on the causeway at St. Joseph Sound at 10:00 am. Pull in at the kayak rental place and we’ll gather just beyond it on the sand. If you need to rent a kayak, rental information is here: www.sailhoneymoon.com/kayak-rentals.
Afterward, bring a picnic lunch to enjoy or gather at one of the many nearby restaurants. It’s sure to be a fun day of fellowship with your church family. Contact Brad Mattes if you have any questions.

VOTER’S MEETING
Sunday, March 21 | 11:00 AM
Having been approved for a loan of 1,410,000 from the WELS Church Extension Fund, the congregation’s voters are asked to approve the Borrower’s Resolution to finalize and secure the loan. We will bring this to the voters at a meeting after worship on March 21.

LENT BEGINS FEBRUARY 17
Ash Wednesday | 4:00 PM
Whether they were lifted to bless God’s chosen people or to stone God’s chosen prophets, hands in the Bible are rarely noticed but always in action. Our Lenten series, “The Hands of the Passion” explores the many roles hands played during the Passion History, from waving palm branches to nailing our Savior to the cross. Join us on Ash Wednesday and Sundays during Lent as we ponder how the one who holds the world in his hands allowed those hands to be pierced and nailed to a cross – all in love for us. Ash Wednesday worship is at the Phi Delta Kappa Banquet Hall. Our Ash Wednesday service is at 4:00 PM on February 17.

“THE LIVING CHURCH” – A BIBLE STUDY
Starting February 15 | 6:00 PM
The New Testament can be likened to a diamond. It is multifaceted, each angle adding to the brilliance of the whole. The brilliance of the New Testament is Jesus Christ. The Gospels show the life and mission of Jesus, Acts demonstrates the transforming power of His Word, the letters emphasize the new life in Christ, and Revelation reveals the ultimate life with Christ. The Living Church – The New Testament is a class to help you learn how the New Testament is knit together in our Savior Jesus. All members of Peace are welcome to take this class.

This class is part of The Congregational Assistant Program (CAP) and is under the guidance of Martin Luther College. CAP assists congregations in training qualified and confident leaders in their Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) congregations. CAP provides a range of biblical and practical courses available to all WELS members to help them grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

If you would like to learn more, speak with Pastor Schwartz, or, go to www.mlc-wels.edu/cap/.

NEW WEEKDAY BIBLE STUDY OPPORTUNITY
Wednesdays | 6:30 PM
Before Bethlehem the Messiah made appearances in the Old Testament, often as the “Angel of the Lord.” Join fellow Christians from around the Tampa area and as different pastors from our sister churches in the area lead our study of some of these Bible Stories together. Class is online, via Zoom, at 6:30 pm on Wednesday evenings.
